Investigators from the Darien Police Department were altered by a woman that she had been involved in altercations with a man identified as Hafi Edge in December last year and then again in January and May, prompting him to begin allegedly sending her threatening text messages.

Police said that in the December incident, the victim and Edge got into an altercation over his cellphone. When the victim became upset, she threw the phone at Edge, and he allegedly responded by attacking her and injuring her hand and lip.

According to police, in the January incident, the two were involved in a verbal argument when the victim slapped Edge with an open palm, prompting him to begin punching her in the head with closed fists.

Edge’s victim said that she fell to the ground in the fetal position and Edge continued to strike her, leaving her with bruises on the head, a black eye and concussion, police said. The woman reported that she was treated for her injuries at Stamford Hospital.

On May 20, the two were involved in another argument over text messages. In an effort to cease communication, the victim blocked Edge’s phone number, though he proceeded to continue sending her messages from other numbers, attempting to inflict bodily harm.

Police investigators attempted to contact Edge unsuccessfully.

An arrest warrant was issued for Edge on Wednesday, June 5. Two days later, the victim called the police department to report that Edge was on her property. Officers responded to the home and took Edge into custody and transported him to Darien Police Headquarters.

Edge, 39, was arrested and charged with second-degree threatening, third-degree assault, and third-degree criminal trespassing. Following his arraignment, Edge was held on a $25,000 bond. No return court date has been scheduled.
